I just visited Jackie Hinksons exhibition at 101 Art Gallery and it is worth a visit. The exhibition is called Noise and has been painted over the last few years. It is a reflection of our current times and shows Jackie in a new light. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday from 12 noon to 5 pm  and on Saturdday from 10 am to 2 pm.

“My work has always been driven by a response to the world I live in: Trinidad & Tobago, the Caribbean and beyond. ⠀

It is the physical world that I find images and other cues (tones, shapes, light, colours etc) that reflect my mainly emotional response to life. ⠀

In the execution of my work these two worlds, the emotional and the physical, come together. The process is intuitive. ⠀

Over the past 60 years my technical skills, study of the physical world and the reaction to life have evolved with shifting emphases. This series was inspired by a sense of a growing frenzy in almost all aspects of life I, and I believe, most people, feel besieged by that NOISE.’ – J. Hinkson, jackiehinkson@gmail.com
